The Bachelor of Science in Operation Theatre Technology (B.Sc. OTT) is a four-year undergraduate program, including a one-year mandatory internship, designed to prepare students for a vital role in surgical and perioperative care. Operation Theatre Technologists are key members of the surgical team, working alongside surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to ensure safe, efficient, and sterile conditions throughout the surgical process.
These professionals are responsible for the management and maintenance of the operation theatre, including:
Preparation and sterilization of surgical instruments
Setting up the OT table, instrument and anesthesia tables
Ensuring availability and sterilization of drapes, linen, surgical drugs, and anesthetic gases
Apart from technical expertise, students are expected to develop:
Strong scientific and analytical skills
Clear communication and teamwork abilities
Attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
