As per the American Psychological Association, Business Psychology (which is also referred to as "Industrial/Organizational Psychology") is characterized by the scientific study of human behavior in organizations and the workplace. The specialty focuses on deriving principles of individual, group & organizational behavior and applying this knowledge to the "solution of problems at work”.
As the workplace becomes ever so complex & more demanding, the pressure placed on an organization’s employees, in the form of job demands and the resultant work-related stress, has become a grave concern. Additionally given the dynamics of human interactions & the complexity of the interpersonal relationships that exist in a modern-day workplace, both within the Organization & with outside stakeholders, it's crucially important that Organizations make an effort to understand the importance of the ‘Psychological aspects’ relating the functioning of one’s organization. This course will thus explore these areas in some level detail to provide a basic understanding of the subject domain of Business Psychology.
